Chapter 1-
Meeting Chloe Mackenzie
Chloe Mackenzie opened the front door to her new bungalow cautiously, as if something (or someone, she adds) was going to jump out and attack her. Well, when she said this bungalow was new, she meant that it was new to her at least. It was time to get away from Riverview, and all it's painful memories. As she walked around, everything Chloe saw just screamed 'Stefan at her'
Stefan was Chloe's elder brother. He was gentle, kind and most importantly, he practically raised Chloe. Chloe and Stefan's father had died when Chloe was just a toddler and Stefan was a young teenager. Their mother, Dolores was understandably devastated. Stefan took care of little Chloe the best that he could while their heart-broken, violent mother got drunk at the local bar. Once Stefan was old enough, he got a job working in the army. Stefan used to always tell Chloe how much he wanted her to grow up and have children, but he's been dead almost a year.
Chloe was determined to make her big brother proud. With the money she had inherited and Stefan's old bungalow, she had moved to Sunset Valley and started a new life. She wanted to do the 100 baby challenge; she needed to make Stefan proud. She went to sleep that night with dreams of getting pregnant and making her hero happy.
The first day that Chloe lived in sunset valley, she took a trip to the summer festival. She'd heard of these things, but her family had never really had enough money to go to one, so stories were all Chloe knew. There was so much to do. Chloe went rollerskating, competed in an eating contest, made a snow cone, got a spray tan and last but not least, got her face painted like a pirate. She felt like a kid again!
Despite all the fun that she was having, Chloe didn't keep her mission out of mind. That day she met Grady Elfman. He was good-looking and kind; a great candidate for her 1st baby. They had a brilliant date and Grady slept over in Chloe's 'new' bungalow. They woohooed the next day and straight away, Chloe heard the soft twinkle of a lullaby that told her that she was pregnant. The pregnancy was very simple and Chloe was only sick once. Being pregnant was incredibly boring and Chloe was upset that she couldn't really do anything fun at the Summer festival anymore. On leisure day, she got invited to a pool party but she decided not to go as she didn't feel very confident in a bikini anymore.
Seeing how upset and lonely she was, Christopher Steel, a guy who had been in the school year above Chloe and had been crushing on her since elementary school, invited her on a date to the art gallery. They had great fun, even though Chris freaked out a little when he saw that she was pregnant. When Chloe got home, she tried to phone Christopher, but she couldn't get in contact with him. She assumed that he didn't want to date a pregnant girl. Chloe also tried to get in touch with Grady, the father of her unborn baby, but couldn't. His phone was turned off like he was ignoring her. She knew that Chris and Grady were friends, did Chris tell Grady about her pregnancy?
She had no time to wonder as she went into labor early that morning! Chloe ignored the incoming calls from her phone company requesting her too pay the bills as she got into a taxi taking her too hospital. She needn't have rushed because the baby took a long time to be born. At noon, little Stefan Junior was born. He looked like a typical baby and he cried a lot, but Chloe was head-over-heels in love with him. When she got him home, she settled him in for a nap and looked over Stefan's crib and whispered to him:
"I love you and I promise that I'm going to a better mom than my mother ever was too me."
The journey had began and Chloe was ready. She was ready for the dirty diapers, the sleepless nights and even all the morning sickness. She was finally ready for the ups and downs of motherhood.
